Taking Poker Notes.Note-taking is very important and it is incredible how many players don’t take them. Needless to say all good players take notes on other players. We will learn more about taking notes in a later lesson but as many sites offer note taking facilities even in play-money games you can already start taking notes on other players. If the site doesn’t offer this facility you can start taking notes in a note book. Any player who wants to make money from playing poker will need to take notes, so they can identify fish and professional players. In the beginning your notes may only indicate if the player is, a fish, an ok player, or an excellent player. When you play play-money games many of the players will be like yourself and new to the game. Having notes on them will help you identify fish later on when you are playing real money games. Also when you have become a competent player it is also a good strategy to go back to the play-money games to build up your list of fish. The chances are you may not see many of these players again, but you will have not lost anything apart from a little effort. Remember poker is about advantage so any extra knowledge you have is an advantage and could be the difference of being a mediocre player, good player or great player. And of course winning money by playing poker in the long run.
