The Flop

Three community cards are dealt known as The Flop. These three cards are visible and available to all active players.

After the flop is dealt, the first to act is the nearest active player, to the left of the button. This player has the option to bet, check or fold.

The betting round then continues clockwise with each player taking a turn. If all check then the betting interval is over and the turn card is dealt. However if someone bets, the next player has the option to call, raise or fold. If that player raises the next player can call, re-raise or fold. Once the pot is equalized the betting interval is over.

Note:
By now you have 5 cards to play with and a further 2 to come. Interestingly that's about 70% of the cards you will have to use. You should have a good idea, that you could win with your present hand or draw to a winning hand.

This is a very important stage in the hand and we will spend more time on what actions to take here in further lessons.
